Organic White Kidney Beans are a white-colored variety of legumes that has the shape of a kidney (hence the name). These particular beans are also relatively large in size if compared to Cannellini beans, which are rather small. When cooked, Organic Large White Kidney Beans stay firm and have a mild flavor with a note of sweetness.

Large White Kidney Beans Culinary Uses

These beans are an extremely versatile ingredient that has numerous uses. They work amazing in soups, stews, chili, curries, salads, or as a side dish to chicken. Moreover, you can use them as a substitute for Great Northern, Cannellini, Navy, Adzuki, Garbanzo, and Fava beans. If your recipe calls for canned beans, they can be easily replaced with cooked Large White Kidney Beans. In fact, dried legumes are even more nutritious than the ones from a can.

Organic Dried White Kidney Beans Nutritional Profile

White Kidney Beans are most valued for their high content of crucial nutrients like protein and fiber. Protein is a building block of our body’s cells and fiber is needed for good digestion. Just 1 ounce of these beans provides 7 g of protein and 7 g of dietary fiber. Legumes are an integral part of a plant-based diet. In addition, Large White Kidney Beans contain Calcium, Iron, Potassium, Folate, Phosphorus, Magnesium, and Vitamins C, B6, and K. They may support heart health and maintain proper blood sugar levels.

Cooking Instructions

It is recommended to soak Large White Kidney Beans overnight, or at least for a few hours to reduce their cooking time. After you soak the beans, follow these steps:

  • Rinse the beans with clean water
  • Thoroughly drain
  • Combine 1 cup of beans with 2 cups of water in a pot
  • Bring to a boil
  • Reduce the heat to low and simmer covered until tender (about 30-40 mins)
  • Ready to serve!

If you have an instant pot or a crockpot, cook soaked Large White Kidney Beans on the “HIGH” mode for 15 mins.

Tip

Hard tap water may prevent the beans from getting tender. In this case, you may add just a pinch of baking soda to soften the water and reduce the cooking time.

Storage

Large White Kidney Beans have a pretty long shelf life if stored properly. Keep them in a moisture-proof container in a cool dry place.
