Organic Alfalfa Seeds for Easy Sprouting at Home

Organic Alfalfa Seeds are an excellent idea if you wish to introduce healthy and tasty sprouts into your diet. This plant has been popular for ages, and it's used both in food and herbal remedies. Today organic alfalfa sprouts are considered a superfood for their high content of vitamin K, iron, fiber, and multiple phytonutrients. Technically, the alfalfa plant belongs to the legume family, but it's often considered a herb. They are at their peak in nutritional value when the seeds sprout and mature plants are used to feed animals. You can buy edible alfalfa seeds, but their nutritional value isn't as high as sprouts. They are also hard to process, even if cooked, and contain protein that can be toxic to humans in large doses.

How to Use Organic Alfalfa Seeds for Maximum Benefit

To get all the benefits from this product, you should use organic alfalfa seeds for sprouting. Soak about two spoonfuls of seeds in two glasses of water (70F) for twelve hours. Rinse, drain, and place them away from sunlight covered with a tea towel. Rinse and drain every twelve hours for the next three days. On day four, remove the tea towel, organic alfalfa sprouts should start to appear. You can place the tray with the seeds someplace sunny now, and continue to rinse and drain every twelve hours. Day six, you can place the sprouts in the fridge, make sure it's twelve hours after the last rinse. Organic alfalfa sprouting seeds store well, but sprouts are delicate, and we recommend eating them fresh. You can keep them in the fridge for about three days. Enjoy organic alfalfa sprouts in salads, spring rolls, and sandwiches. They taste sweet and mildly nutty. You can buy organic alfalfa seeds in bulk and store them for up to twelve months in a cool and dry place.

How to Sprout Organic Alfalfa Seeds at Home

  1. Yields approximately 3 Cups (1/2 lb.) of Sprouts. Prep 3 Tablespoons of seed, then transfer into a bowl or into your Sprouter. Add 2-3 times as much cool (60°-70°) water. Mix seeds up to assure even water contact for all.
  2. Allow seeds to soak for 6-12 hours. Empty the seeds into your Sprouter (if necessary). Drain off the soak water. Rinse thoroughly with cool (60°-70°) water. Drain thoroughly! Set your Sprouter anywhere out of direct sunlight and at room temperature (70° is optimal) between Rinses. Ensure sufficient air-circulation is provided.
  3. Always be sure to Drain very thoroughly. The most common cause of inferior sprouts is inadequate drainage. Rinse and Drain again every 8-12 hours for 3 days.
