Sweetener and Superfood All-in-One

Organic Lucuma Powder is a natural sweetener that tastes very much like brown sugar. However, unlike brown sugar, lucuma fruit powder has a lower glycemic index and a variety of essential nutrients and antioxidants. Raw lucuma powder comes from lucuma fruit, which is native to Peru and has been used in local cuisine for millennia. The pleasant sweetness of the fruit remains when it’s dried at low temperatures and crushed into powder. Therefore we make sure to work with suppliers that guarantee the minimal temperature process and keep the product Raw. Its texture is similar to refined sugar. However, lucuma fruit undergoes minimal processing. It means that organic lucuma powder retains a large part of the natural nutrients, including vitamins A, C, and B3, as well as fiber and various antioxidant compounds.

How to Use Organic Lucuma Powder as a Sweetener

Raw lucuma powder has a low glycemic index and serves as an alternative for sugar or other sweeteners. You can use it in any recipe, but you might need to experiment with the amount of product. In most cases, you should use two units of lucuma fruit powder to replace 1 unit of brown sugar. The product shouldn’t have any significant influence on the texture of the dish because it has similar chemical properties to that of brown sugar. However, as the level of sweetness is different, it will be best to incorporate it with moderation until you work out the best proportions for you. Use the powder as a sweetener in baked goods or add to your cereal, nut milk, smoothie, or yogurt. Lucuma fruit powder is also a popular flavor of ice cream. But remember that overeating any sweetener isn’t right for you, so limit yourself to 1-3 teaspoons.
