Thai Hom Mali Jasmine Rice is globally known as the shining star of Thai cuisine. As the name implies, it is a famous kind of Jasmine White Rice, grown predominantly in Thailand and sometimes Vietnam. In order to be exported and labeled as a true Thai Hom Mali Rice, its production needs to meet certain requirements, as this rice cultivars’ characteristics are unique to its place of origin.
Since White Jasmine Rice is rich in carbohydrates and calories, it provides a spike of energy for the body. Although the top layer is absent, white rice grains still contain a good amount of Iron and B group vitamins like Niacin, Thiamine, Folic acid, and others.
Upon cooking White Jasmine Rice grains are moist and soft in texture. Although they tend to cling to each other, Thai Hom Mali Rice is not as sticky as glutinous rice.
There are a lot of easy ways to incorporate it in recipes. Thai Hom Mali Rice serves as a perfect complement to curry stir-fry, tofu dishes, and poke bowls. It can also be used as a side to any meat, vegetable, or fish. If you’re not a mixer when it comes to food, you can eat this rice on its own, just add your favorite seasonings and voila!
Bear in mind to store Thai Hom Mali fragrant rice in an airtight container that keeps out moisture and dust. If stored in a cool dry place its shelf life reaches up to 1.5 years.
This kind of rice was initially cultivated in 1954 in Thailand and named as Khao Hom Mali 105 variety.
